Located in Vothona area, only 15 minutes distance from Dome Resort Santorini, the Museum of Wine is located. Just take the road to Kamari and follow the signs; it is truly easy to find it.
The ‘’Volcan Wines’’, established by George Koutsogiannopoulos, is indeed the most important landmark dedicated to the wine making process. The museum’s location is inside a magnificent natural cave, 6 meters below ground. Its area covers 300 meters through corridors and rooms that remind you of a labyrinth.

Here you can experience all of Santorini’s wine history with representations of effigies, a combination of audiovisual effects and automatic conducted tour. Made by Koutsogiannopoulos family, after 20 years of hard work, they finally managed to capture all the phases of wine production. Its exhibits are dated from 1660 to 1970 and it is decorated with materials dated back to the 17th and 18th century.
Through this magnificent travel back in time and the complete history of wine, the visitor can truly unfold all the secrets, colors and perfumes of wine.
After the tour is completed, the visitors are directed to another area. There they can taste and sample some chosen wines, always of the George Koutsogiannopoulos production. You may even purchase a few bottles, if you find something that truly amazes your senses.
The family’s awarded collection includes wines like Vinsanto, Assyrtiko and Nikteri. Taste all of them and discover you favorite Santorinian wine.
You can visit the museum all year long. Visiting hours for low seasonal (November to March) stretch from 9:00 am to 16:00 pm, Monday to Saturday. Whereas during the months April and May the museum is open from 10:00 am to 17:00 pm. June to October the museum operates all days of the week, between 10:00 am and 18:00 pm.
