Welcome to Santorini’s Capital, Fira!
Located on the west coast of Santorini, this town is the place to be. Along with the amazing panoramic sea view, the caldera cliffs and the magnificent view of the volcano, Fira is more than the island’s capital.
There are many museums, galleries and other cultural events that you can participate in, especially during summer months. Fira has also the most vibrant nightlife, with most of the cafes, restaurants and bars to the caldera, and some of them spread through the paved streets.

A little farther you can find Fira’s suburbs, Firostefani and Kontochori. There are some old villages, where you will have the chance to walk in their narrow paved streets and watch the breathtaking view, from a more quiet and peaceful corner of Fira.
The old port of Santorini is located at the bottom of the caldera cliffs. There are a few ways that you can reach it. You may walk down the 600 stone steps, make as many stops as you like and enjoy your way down. Alternatively, you can hop on a mule and travel back in time, when this was the only way people could transport or carry the goods that the ships were bringing. There is also a cable car which departs from the top of caldera and takes you all the way down.

Once you reach the port, you will find the small harbor where some large cruise liners are anchored and small boats ferry the visitors to the nearby islands. There is no need to reserve ahead of time your boat tickets. The boats depart all day long to the volcano ‘Nea Kameni’ and to the Hot Springs of ‘Palia Kameni’, where you will have the time to dive into the crystal clear waters.
There are also itineraries to Thirassia Island as well as Oia, where you can complete the tour of the day by experiencing one of the most amazing sunsets in Santorini.
